Clinical Supervision

Dr. Terreros is a Qualified Supervisor for Florida Mental Health Counseling Interns and offers both group and individual clinical supervision.

What is a Qualified Supervisor?

The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling requires that Registered Interns receive supervision from a Qualified Supervisor before being eligible for independent licensure. Qualified Supervisors are licensed therapists who have received specialized training in clinical supervision and are certified to supervise interns. Dr. Terreros is certified to supervise Mental Health Counseling interns.

What does supervision with Dr. Terreros look like?

The goal of supervision is not simply to complete your necessary hours, but rather learn the skills that will help you provide competent care to your clients while also taking care of yourself.  Traditionally we will spend time reviewing your cases, providing suggestions for treatment approaches, ethics, interventions, and addressing countertransference issues that may arise.  We will also spend time practicing self-care and learning how to create a work-life balance that will benefit both you and your clients.

Do you need to have your supervisor on site with you?

You are not required to have your supervisor on site with you.  There is a requirement that a licensed mental health professional must be on site while you are seeing clients (if in a private setting) but it does not have to be your supervisor.

If you are in need of clinical supervision, please reach out to Dr. Terreros at 863-451-8448 or sebringcounselor@gmail.com for assistance.
